Interesting Stories about Hephaestus:

When Hephaestus was born, Hera through him off Mt. Olympus because she said he was ugly. This made him lame. Feeling rejected by Hera, Hephaestus made a lovely throne for her and sent it her. She sat in it and discovered she could not get up again. The other gods tried to reason with Hephaestus, but he would not listen. He finally was given wine by Dionysus and after a few drinks,  was brought to Olmypus. Drunk or not, he still refused to free Hera unless he could have either Aphrodite or Athene as wife. He ended up with Aphrodite.

Hephaestus helped to create the first woman because Zeus  ordered that there be a new kind of human. Zeus later plotted against Prometheus because he and his race of mortals had only included one gender, which was male, and so Hephaestus formed the first woman from clay. Her name was Pandora (all gifts) and from a supernatural jar, she released the evils of the world on mankind. The jar was closed fast enough to save hope for man kind.
